Located in a historic, Mission-style structure, the Hotel Shattuck Plaza is the top hotel near UC Berkeley. Its name pays homage to Francis K. Shattuck, a prominent figure in the city’s early history. Designed by architect Benjamin McDougall near the site of Shattuck's former estate, our hotel first opened its doors in 1910 and now occupies a spot on the National Register of Historic Places. Our hotel near Berkeley University recently became a new member of the Historic Hotels of America, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, which recognizes, celebrates, and promotes the finest historic hotels in the US.

Our Pet-Friendly Program was designed to keep you and your dog or cat comfortable on the road. Only one pet is allowed per room, at a weight limit of 60 pounds. A $75 fee will be charged to your guest room; $10 of every pet fee is donated to the Berkeley Humane Society.
